AUSSIE FLAT BUSH™ Rhagodia

Aussie Flat Bush™ Rhagodia spinescens ‘SAB01’ PBR

  • Low growing, compact shrub with blue foliage
  • For inland and coastal situations
  • Makes a great ground cover for roadsides and other landscapes

Description: Rhagodia spinescens is found in all mainland states of Australia. It has adapted to inland and coastal situations. This compact form makes a great ground cover and performs better if it is pruned annually or more often if a manicured look is desired.

On road sides it can be used with less frequent pruning, or no pruning at all. Its blue foliage looks great in mass plantings, but equally as good as a garden specimen plant. Compared to the common form, Aussie Flat Bush™ Rhagodia is much lower in height.

Size: 30-50cm high x 1m wide.

Planting Density: 1-2 plants per m², 1-2 plants per linear metre.

Uses: It is ideal for roadsides, slopes, commercial and residential landscapes.

Position: Full sun to light shade. Suits most soil types, including heavy soils. It is highly drought tolerant, adapted to low or higher rainfall areas. Aussie Flat Bush™ Rhagodia copes with frost down to -5° celcius.

Care: Water as required for 8-13 weeks until established. Plant in a well mulched garden (chunky mulch is recommended).

If required use slow release fertiliser in spring. In gardens prune twice per year for best look; infrequent pruning on road sides.

Where it works: NSW, ACT, VIC, QLD (non humid inland areas), SA, WA.
